One of the nicest pickers I’ve met at any of the festivals.
He and Miss Donna were beloved in the steel world.

RIP to the great hearted Tommy Dodd

DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!

Tommy would wear that devilish look on his face before and after he launched into one of his typical "out of bounds" renditions of pop and pop rock songs. He really broke up the monotony and rescued the wives and ladies in the back of the room from the all too commonly played steel guitar ballads. Tommy had the ladies, all of them on their feet dancing and feeling young again. He was a character, a good guy and such a great player. He cannot be replaced. RIP Tommy. Very sorry for your loss Donna. You two were such a beautiful couple.

I just heard the news. It indeed is sad and shocking. Tommy will be missed not only for his superb musicianship but his outgoing and friendly manner.

RIP

Condolences to Donna and family.

Thanks for posting the video of Tommy playing John.
Classic tones. Wish I could play like that.

Donna and Family

Post by Jesse Pratt »

As a professional singer I’ve known Tommy Dodd for many years. I never thought the last time he played with me would be the final one for us. Tommy gave me one of his favorite custom bars with his special insert on the end and a set of his custom picks. He only taught me because my father passed and was an awesome steel musician and a student and friend of Herbie Wallace from his days in Chattanooga to Sevierville TN. I told him that I wanted to do it in honor of my father so he taught me. Tommy thank you for our friendship and for all of your acts of kindness. You’ll always be remembered by your friends and family. God bless you and rest easy my friend until we meet again.

Donna my condolences goes out to you and your entire family.

Sincerely,
Jesse Pratt III
