This isn't my guitar. It was build by my friend Dave Wheelhouse, who like me comes from Southampton, England. He built it for himself, and calls it the Beach. The colouring is sandy on the left which gradually fades into vary depths of the sea. (His wife's idea). It's a very unique colour scheme.
I played it yesterday, and the tone is excellent.
Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Telonics TCA-500, Webb 614-E,

This is the third steel I've ever owned and the second Sho~Bud. Picked it up used in the late '70s. Still have the parts for the back neck and thinking of getting them back in. She has a few road scars but plays well and love the sound. Modified it accommodate the pickup and interfaces for the old IVL Steel/Pitch Rider.
Just double checked the serial number against the list on the forum. #4110 appears to be September 1973.

Dean, that old Sho-Bud is Steve Smith’s go-to guitar in the 70’s and 80’s. Played on many a Canadian hit and TV show.

Hey John...yes it was. I bought it from Steve through Bob Lucier at his shop years ago. When Steve was playing with Shania ‘Twin’ at the Daines Piknik back in 1999, he sat behind it and after playing for a bit he told me he never should have sold it. I recall you playing out there that year as well with George Canyon. Are you still gigging?
